In Chinese culture, bamboo is the symbol of perseverance, integrity, virtuous. It also represents the elasticity of life and the spirit of truth.

About this workshop

This one day workshop will feature the beauty of Chinese bamboo painting in Qing and Ming Dynasty style (the most famous style) and how to successfully achieve these effects in your painting. Silka will also introduce the basic composition theory of Chinese painting. You will use a composition of your choice to complete a bamboo landscape in ink and brushes.

Chinese bamboo painting culture
Using ink and brushes to create bamboo and bamboo leaves
Light and shadow effects of bamboos
Distance effects of bamboos
Painting decorative plants
Chinese painting composition theory

Who is this workshop suitable for?

This is suitable for absolute beginners to advanced experience in Chinese Painting.

What do I need to bring?

All materials provided.


Please bring your lunch and snacks or you can purchase from cafes close by. We do have a fridge and microwave at the studio for your convenience.
