Water Reflection & Transparencies in Oil | Marcel Desbiens

Water Reflection & Transparencies in Oil | Marcel Desbiens

About this workshop

Learn an easy way to paint the impossible! You will learn to paint water reflections in 2 different methods.

Learn how you can recreate the beautiful softness of colours and tones depicting sky and trees reflections, undulations, tinted coloured water showing natural elements on the sand in shallow water.
The 2 methods are applied on 2 variations on a lake scenery to experience the application of colours with different degree of transparency. Another method will be used for special effects is the removing of paint on the second layer with special tools.

1. Acrylic undercoat and oil/alkyd as a second coat in opaque and semi-opaque first day, second day glazing transparent oil colours.
2. Colour undercoat in alkyd first day, oil colours second day.

Save yourself hours of experimentation and research by following Marcel Desbiens quick step-by-step demonstration process and achieve instant results. Plenty of “hands on” exercises will give you the opportunity to create those realistic effects with oils. You will learn to reproduce this transparency effect using a layering technique on a coloured background with the Alla prima method. The right choice of medium, opaque and transparent colours and brushes will make the process a breeze!
