Watercolour Natural History and Botanicals | Heidi Willis

Watercolour Natural History and Botanicals | Heidi Willis

Through demonstrations, step by step tuition and guided hands on learning, this workshop will explore the wonderful challenge of painting realistic flowers in a botanical style using transparent watercolours.

About this workshop

This is a 2 day insight into realistic watercolour and botanical painting which will give you plenty of food for thought, an opportunity to paint with Heidi’s guidance and redirection, to ask questions and to learn more about this wonderful craft. The focus will be on a hand chosen botanical subject/s (to be determined) that will allow us to practice specific watercolour techniques and challenges that relate to our painting study.

What will I learn?

Touching on watercolour techniques of washes, the more complex process of glazing (or layers of wash), and the intricate art of dry brushing, you will learn how to manage each of these techniques to create sound foundations to managing this medium well. Through this you will build a healthier understanding and love of watercolour, and of this beautiful painting genre.

Heidi’s workshops focus strongly on improving your over all watercolour techniques, with a goal of equipping you with sound knowledge, direction, confidence and strategy to tackle any subject independently following her course.
