Watercolour Portraits with Archibald winner Cherry Hood

Watercolour Portraits with Archibald winner Cherry Hood

Take this opportunity to spend a weekend learning the painting secrets of Archibald Prize-winning artist, Cherry Hood.

Cherry is acclaimed for her unique large scale watercolour paintings of faces, and in this weekend workshop she will share with you her techniques, so that you can create your very own large scale watercolour painting of a face.

This workshop is not about creating a likeness of someone – it’s all about creating a amazing, unique painting using the wonderful medium of watercolour.

What will I learn?

Working from your own photograph of a face, and with step by step demonstrations from Cherry, you will be guided on how to:
• scale-up the image without losing the proportions
• use large brushes and watery paint to create a unique style of painting.

Cherry encourages her students to “really go for it”, using loose painting, pouring and even their hands, so that the end result is like nothing they’ve ever painted before.
