      • Anatomy of Style (Beginners) with Patrick J Jones

        About this course

        The foundation of the success of award-winning fantasy and sci-fi artist and author Patrick J Jones, is his finely honed figure drawing skills and his belief that understanding gesture is the key to drawing figures with style.

        In this 4 week figure-drawing course, Patrick will introduce you to the forgotten secrets of the old masters and share his exciting and accessible figure drawing methods and formulas developed over decades of presenting Masterclasses.

        Enrol in both the ‘Beginners’ and ‘All Levels’ courses and save $150.

        What will I learn?

        Techniques and formulas for producing anatomically accurate, stylish and graceful human figures, including:
        • selecting the right materials
        • drawing the head, torso, ribcage and hips
        • drawing the male and female figure from live models
        • balancing gesture and structure
        • an introduction to style.

        Each class consists of live demonstrations and student practice.

        Who is this course suitable for?

        Anyone who would like to learn to draw the human figure.

        About this course

        Do you find it hard to devote time to your painting practice?

        Do you get stuck with a painting and don’t know where to take it next?

        Do you have technical questions about your painting?

        Are you looking for a group of likeminded artists to paint with?

        The Studio Painting course provides:

        • uninterrupted time to focus on your own work
        • an expert tutor to help you extend your skills
        • a small group of passionate likeminded artists

        Each term runs for 6 weeks. Priority is given to existing studio painting students and alumni.

        What will I learn?*

        Everything you need to know to complete your own painting project.

        Class sizes are kept to a maximum of 12 students to guarantee personal attention.

        Who is this course suitable for?

        Those who have completed Foundation in Oils and ‘Gain Confidence in Oils’ courses, or who have the equivalent skills and experience.

        What do I need to bring?

        Bring along your painting materials. Limited art supplies are available for purchase at the studio if you need a top up.

        Please bring odourless solvent only and avoid any strong smelling mediums.

      • Untutored Life Drawing

        About this class

        These casual classes offer artists of all levels the opportunity to develop their life drawing skills in an untutored environment.

        We provide a spacious air conditioned /heated room and a professional life model who will pose in a variety of short and long poses.

        What will I learn?

        This is an untutored class for you to further your own practice.

        Who is this course suitable for?

        Artists of all levels who want to practice their drawing skills. Absolute beginners are welcome as well as experienced artists.

        What do I need to bring?

        Bring along your drawing materials. Limited art supplies are available for purchase at the studio if you need a top up or are just starting out.
